I’ve stated before how reprehensible I think the owner and promoters of the Loveland in Portland are. Finally there is some justice in knowing it’s a sinking ship. Let me be clear and illustrate my contempt:
Sharon and I went one evening to Embers, as we waited to pay the cover the doorman and cashier asked the people ahead of us how much they’d had to drink. They responded in a not-so-subtle way and he ejected them. Plain and simple. Loveland however has no such precautions and it’s an ALL AGES CLUB. The time I was there children were exiting the establishment and sneaking booze BACK into the club – getting wasted and then puking gelatinous bile all over the club which settled into the wood floor for over 30 minutes before someone grudgingly took care of it. Loveland’s owner and promoters allowed this behavior. Glad to see it go. Willamette Weekly states “Kids sharing Cokes? Cute.” Bullshit. I never saw kids sharing cokes. I saw kids puking booze, and the Loveland employees turned their heads instead of ejecting the parties involved.
I find it odd also that the Willamette Weekly thinks Loveland “is a great space”.
I don’t know what silly-dooky substance WW writer Mark Baumgarten is introducing into his veins, but the Loveland is a complete shit-hole and anyone that thinks otherwise has never experience a real club. The man obviously has never attended one of the events there to promote such drivel in the WW’s pages.
I’m happy about it’s possible demise, but writing this has brought back all my hatred of that place and the people responsible for it.
