Jesus Litter

One of the things that drives me crazy as I drive from day to day, are the numbers of cars out there that are completely peppered with Jesus stickers and catchy little “inspirational” phrases on them. I was driving behind someone the other day who had a TON of Christ-ie stickers on his car and the license plate “God Rox”. It’s almost like they’re looking for attention or notariety for their religious beliefs, which is such a strange concept to me.

I’m not anti anything, religion-wise, SO LONG AS you don’t throw your beliefs in my face like they’re the only beliefs that matter, AND so long as you follow the tenets of your religion if you plan to persecute people for NOT.

Back to the point, it just seems like those people (who have cars peppered with Jesus crap) are just out for attention, and to me that just seems wrong to try to get notariety for having spiritual beliefs. Just worship what you will and shut the fuck up about it, people. Spirituality is a personal thing, or should be, so keep that shit to yourself, kids, or get out of the fuckin sandbox.

Tokin’ Of Righteousness

Morning Edition, February 21, 2005 · It was revealed this weekend that a former Bush advisor made secret tapes of conversations had when George Bush was governor of Texas and considering a run for the White House. On the tapes, the now-President Bush indicated that he had used marijuana but would not admit it for fear of setting a bad example for children.

I can understand where he’s coming from here, it’s way better to admit to driving drunk to set that great example for children. Or maybe doing up some blow while your father was in the White House. Lying to the world to justify a completely unecessary war? (yeah yeah yeah, it had SOME positive repurcussions, but it was still unjustified and completely unlawful.) You’re not really batting 1000 when it comes to being that positive role model, Georgie boy. I think smokin’ a little weed is really the least offensive of the things you’ve done that you don’t want the kids to know about. So climb up on the roof and take a few hits for Willie Nelson, George, AND also… …for the children.

Support Our Troops, Eh?

Morning Edition, February 22, 2005 · According to a Government Accountability Office report, hundreds of injured Army reservists and National Guard members — including many wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan — have lost medical care and pay because they were dropped from active duty status.

I have one question: Exactly HOW were these troops getting wounded in “passive duty”? How fucking sad!
