Terri Schiavo - Thoughts

Okay, this fuckin story has dominated the news for at least the past 10 days or so. This is HANDS-DOWN the MOST obvious, clear-cut case of Americans’ inability to keep their nose out of other peoples’ business. This fuckin SAD-ASS story, of a husband’s fight with a family over the right to die of his wife has sparked a hellish media circus whose ridiculousness, clearly, has NO bounds.

I’ve seen Terri Shciavo’s husband villified by the Pro-Lifers (or Anti-Right Demonstrators if you want to get technical about their agenda) as well as members of our own federal government. Bill Frist, a member of the infamous “Party of Inclusion” made several comments about Michael Schiavo, Terri’s husband, making him sound like some completely uncaring, heartless fucker.

I guess what pisses me off as I watch these assholes shoot their mouths off about something they, ultimately, know VERY little about is this: For 15 years or so, Michael Schiavo has had to sit by as the memories of the woman he fell in love with blur and fade as they are replaced by the reality that is the empty shell she became, by contrast. ANYONE who thinks that the decision to let her die was an easy one for him, is ignorant and should shut their fucking mouth. I’m sure he labored over that decision as he struggled with the reality of how the woman he was in love with lied in a room, with no hope of returning to even a fraction of the woman she was. Anyone who hasn’t lived that reality REALLY needs to shut the fuck up and focus on their own meaningless lives, instead of trying to make someone who’s been through a FUCK OF A LOT feel like a total asshole for the decisions he’s felt necessary.

The tragic (darkly comic) irony of this whole thing is that her eating disorder (anorexia) is what led her to the persistent vegitative state she was in for so many years, and at the end her fate came down to a feeding tube. I’m not trying to turn a tragedy into comedy or anything, but that shit is fucking TRUE irony, people.

So, Americans who hope to villify Michael Schiavo for the most difficult decision of his entire life: Fuck off! Let the man deal with the shit he’s had to deal with in his life. The events that led up to this media circus are tragic and horrible and you try to make it sound like he married strictly so he could one day make the decision about whether she lives or dies. That’s fuckin RUDE and retarded that you assholes are trying to make him feel worse about that. And YOU, Bill Frist, you need to have your Republican ass kicked for the words you spoke on the floor on this subject. You watch a few home videos and all of a sudden you’re the world’s formost diagnostician AND editorial columnist combined. Shut your fucking mouth, you contemptable pile of shit.

I guess my point is this: EVERYBODY dies. We don’t know HOW, WHEN or WHY, but we ALL do. She would’ve died anyway folks.

For the record: If I’m ever in an accident that delivers me some permanent, horrible brain damage from which I’ll never recover, pull the god damn plug, PLEASE. And don’t shoot any home movies of me as I waste away. Let me die with the dignity of not being captured on tape at my worst.

Random Thought: Planned Parenthood

A friend of mine who works at Planned Parenthood told me that, last week, the Catholic church had come out to protest the Planned Parenthood being in the neighborhood.

I’m just thinking about how funny that is. The catholics don’t want a child terminated during pregnancy, they want it to grow up to get violently fucked by a priest and traumatized for the rest of it’s life. Makes sense to me.

Planned Parenthood Protests 2 - Electric Boogaloo

Well, the other day I was driving by the new Planned Parenthood and the same protestors were out, this time with their REAL signs. The Pro-Life signs came out instead of the “not by our schools” crap. Just be honest with us up front about your protests, ya sketchy bastards!

Just for the record, I’m personally Pro-Life, but politically I’m Pro-Choice. I believe a woman should have the right to choose what happens with her body and I don’t think a bunch of crusty, old white dudes should get to make that choice. Partial-Birth abortion and that late-term shit should be reviewed cuz that shit’s just nasty and hard to think about.

At any rate, watching those protestors got me to thinking about what these demonstrators think they’re accomplishing. I’ve known a couple of super Pro-Life people who say it’s for “the children who can’t speak for themselves”. I’ll ask the question I asked them, “HOW, exactly, do you think your spending an afternoon on a sidewalk, harassing people and waving signs, is helping the children?”

Face it, Pro-Life demonstrations are just as empty of a gesture as those god damned “Support Our Troops” ribbons that litter cars these days. COMPLETELY empty, shallow and hollow gesture. It’s my personal belief that people join those protests just so they can feel like they belong somewhere. Or maybe they just don’t feel like working that day. Speaking of: Don’t you fuckers work? I’m tempted next time I see them out, to go home and write up some Pro-Life Protestor protest signs and completely protest them and their meaningless act of self-gratification. Something like “Pro Lifers Need A Life”. I’ll make one for my 2 year old to wave around that says something like “I may be a baby, but you fuckers need to grow up and find a more constructive way of trying to fit in somewhere”

Again, as with SO MANY things these days, this is just a simple case of Americans having their noses shoved WAY TOO far into other peoples’ business. And if you give me that “I’m speaking for the children” bullshit, I’ll kick you square in the titty, because you and I both know that’s not really the underlying thing NOR do your little rallies actually do ANY good for ANY children. Simple fact.

Poor US (them)

At the gym, the other day, as I was working out on the elliptical, I saw something on the TV (closed-captioning). It was the Fox News Channel promo-ing an upcoming report on how Christians are being persecuted by society and losing all their rights. Am I high or is MOST of society Christian? As a non-Christian, I feel this sort of shit everyday, where’s my fuckin; news report?

Listen up Christian America, you fuckers are in power now, you’ve got a Christ-y in the White House who’s more than happy to step over that already thin-line between church and state. There’s nothing more pathetic than watching the school bully whine & cry. That’s what you are, America’s spiritual bullies. A good number of you treat non-Christians like dirt or just completely write them off, all the while living your sin-filled little dichotomous lives, denying you’re just as bound for “hell” as anyone.

I would like to state, however, that I don’t hate Christians, I hate judgemental and/or hypocritical people, but most of the ones I deal with on a daily basis are Christian. Just didn’t want you to think I was on some sort of holy crusade. Silly reader! Only people who believe in Jesus as a savior start Crusades. P I just mainly find it funny how the people who are in power, are whining about how rough they have it and how society’s trying to crush Christianity. It’s ridiculous, this is America not Utopia. ;)

I look at it overall, like this: Christians are convinced I’m going to “Hell” since I don’t believe in Jesus as my personal bla bla bla. I actually cherish that thought, because my idea of “Heaven” would NOT be trapped for eternity with you self-righteous hypocrites. So open your arms wide, “Hell”, I’m comin!

Planned Parenthood Protests

Recently, here in Billings, there were people outside of a Planned Parenthood (that was still being built, mind you) protesting the fact that it was being built near a high school. Well, probably about a mile and a half from the nearest high school, to be exact. That got me to thinking about something. Are they afraid that having access to a Planned Parenthood is going to make teenagers any more or any less likely to have sex? I had a Planned Parenthood FAR closer to my high school and it certainly didn’t inspire a wave of uninhibited teen lubbins, it sucks but it didn’t. Weird, really. I’m thinking that most people think it’s just an abortion clinic or something. I don’t see why anyone would be so upset about having a place that basically promotes sexual responsibility and awareness of issues about it in general. I think people are counting way too much on this administration’s “Abstainance Forever” policy. Face it, parents of America, your kids aren’t going to abstain from having sex, period. It will happen eventually, but just solely teaching abstainance is a HUGE mistake.

At any rate, it’s my humble opinion that people who have enough time to protest something so shallow and meaningless, really need to get a JOB or a fuckin HOBBY. I may change my tune when my daughter hits her teenage years, but I know I won’t delude myself into thinking abstainance is the only thing you should teach kids about sex.

This country will never cease to amaze me with it’s odd standards of morality. Americans are fine being fed hour upon hour of horribly violent media content, but the second anything sexual happens, there’s a nationwide freakout. Grow the fuck up, America, sex is natural, a teenager shooting his school bus driver isn’t.
